I'm one of the few people I know that has much respect for copyright. I oppose excessive forms of copyright as I recognise that the more disrespectful copyright becomes, the more people will disrespect it.
This afternoon I came across the following tweet:
TJ Hilton: Limewire owes $1 billion+, BP owes $69 million. Because sharing music is 14.5x more damaging than catastrophic spills. http://bit.ly/aEoZRR
It really summarises how out of touch current Copyright law is in the USA. It is important to note that current Canadian law is more tilted in favour of Copyright holders, and Bill C-32 only makes Canadian copyright less respectful. While I would wish otherwise, and I suspect the government intended otherwise, I expect the result of a passage of Bill C-32 to be less respect for copyright and less money in the pockets of Canadian creators.
