OLPC Give one Get one start tomorrow.

Starting November 12, One Laptop Per Child will be offering a Give 1 Get 1 Program for a brief window of time in North America. I plan to participate, and am excited to both be donating to this project as well as receiving an OLPC (As an activist geek wanting to demonstrate this project to other people, I am the child in my own life). There is a PSA up on YouTube, and a full-page ad (PDF) donated by the Economist.

Check out the video review from David Pogue on October 4 in the New York times.

OLPC donation made...

I've made the donation. $399 (2 laptops) + $34.95 (shipping) = $433.95 USD = $421.26 CAD.

I noticed under participating countries that, "this exclusive North American Give One Get One program will specifically benefit Afghanistan, Cambodia, Haiti and Rwanda."

It will be interesting to see if Canadian troops will see children with XOs that were sent by Canadians as part of this Give One Get One program.

There is a FaceBook group and event for the Give 1 Get 1, as well as a numerous groups for the project itself.
