Wired article: Tariff on Blank CDs? Blame Canada

Canadians may soon be smuggling blank CDs across the border in an effort to avoid the high taxes that have been proposed for any recordable media that can be used to store music.


"My band burns music to CDs and sells them at our shows and online," said musician Maurice DuMarquis. "Our band has chosen to stay independent because we think the music industry has the ethics of vampires. Now they have figured out a way to leech blood from us, too."
