Skipping ads is stealing

'Net Insider columnist Scott Bradner examines the rights of
individuals vs. copyright holders when he alerts us to two
disturbing news items. The first: An ad exec says anyone who
fast-forwards through the ads on a taped TV show is stealing.
The second: A Los Angeles judge has ordered a vendor to create
software to record your every remote control click. Are we
losing this rights battle?

Laws are the spider's webs which,
if anything small falls into them they ensnare it,
but large things break through and escape.
