What I want to see is mandatory labelling. As a consumer (Yes, I mean that word) would never hire a service that worked this way. I have Rogers Digital Cable at home right now, and have never paid for a Pay-Per-View that I did not record. If it were not for the ability to record and watch again later, I simply would never do pay-per-view. I don't suspect I'm alone. > It might be an idea contact Philips Canada and see about possibly partnering > with them for common causes. We should each take on someone to connect with: At the moment, I'm working on connecting with the Creative Rights Alliance, specifically Susan Crean. Our conversation started a bit bumpy as we were starting the conversation with different experiences and different problems to solve, but we are getting closer to understanding where each other is coming from. I have had two meetings so far with Heritage (Copyright policy branch), and have future meetings planned including a demonstration of Linux. Meeting last Friday had many topics come up in their interest in learning what people like us do. One thing totally outside of my knowledge that will probably need demonstration is gaming, so I will later be in touch with our friends at http://www.transgaming.com/ I have a meeting today with an ICT group at Industry Canada. Group includes people from "Business and Regulatory Analysis", "Information and Communications Technologies Branch", "Schoolnet", "Supplier Strategies" and IPPD. > ttyl > Farrell --- Russell McOrmond, Internet Consultant: <http://www.flora.ca/> See http://weblog.flora.org/ for announcements, activities, and opinions World Intellectual Monopoly Day (April 26, 2002) GAScd.TOUR - For the benefit of GASCD (April 26, 2002) -- For (un)subscription information, posting guidelines and links to other related sites please see http://www.flora.org/dmca/ Read: [next] [previous] message List: [newer] [older] articles You need to subscribe to post to this forum. |
