   Here is the problem.  While there are many people in the general public 
who don't take folks like Bono seriously, I don't know if this is the same 
for the political folks.  They seem to really be into 'famous' people, and 
Bono is quite famous.  His participation at a previous Liberal convention 
is just one example.  More MPs than we would want tend to think of 
copyright policy in terms of the star system and the most famous peole in 
the entertainment industry, even though that represents a relatively 
insignificant part of what copyright regulates.


   How do we protect ourselves from this type of problem?



Reminder to anyone reading this (and please pass onward):

   Parliamentarians are not in parliament until March, but that doesn't 
mean they are on vacation -- it means they are in the ridings.  Please 
take this opportunity to set up a meeting with your MP.  The Industry 
Minister has already indicated that Privacy and Copyright (And not just 
the fact that more "copyright" has tended to mean less privacy) are his 
priorities for 2010.  Lets ensure that every MP knows that Canadians care 
about this -- don't assume that they were even aware that there was a 
consultation last summer (that was already ignored by the government in 
the ACTA negotiations).
