The revised chapters have an in-effect date of December 2009. Practices expressed in the MOPOP arise from the Office's interpretation of the /Patent Act/, /Patent Rules/ and jurisprudence as of the date each chapter came into effect. The February 2005 version of Chapter 16, /Computer-Implemented Inventions/, is presently being revised by the Patent Office; the guidance in this version may not accurately reflect Office practice and should not be relied on insofar as it is not consistent with more recent guidance. Readers are referred to Chapter 12 for current guidance respecting computer-implemented inventions. A revised version of Chapter 16 is expected to be available for public consultation in Spring 2010. The chapters are available via the CIPO web site at: http://www.cipo.ic.gc.ca/eic/site/cipointernet-internetopic.nsf/eng/h_wr00720.html -- Russell McOrmond, Internet Consultant: <http://www.flora.ca/> Please help us tell the Canadian Parliament to protect our property rights as owners of Information Technology.
