FYI, you can force their online system to work with a Linux computer. I
went 1/4 of the way through the process yesterday to prove it. What you
have to do is use Konqueror or a firefox plugin to make your browser
identify itself as running under windows and everything will work great.
In fact you only need to do this for the browser identification page.
Once you are into the Census itself you can reset your browser and it
will continue to work great.

Between this issue, the contentious issue of using proprietary American
software, and the most recent one I heard about where StatsCan wants
married gay couples NOT to identify themselves as married, I think the
census is really being done badly. Can we call for the resignation of
the Chief Statistician?
