OK, I've made a few more changes to my educational DVD. Interesting to
note also that while I'm putting this together strictly for the
edification of MPs and the public, I am not covered by any sort of
educational exception as institutions would be. Therefore, what I am
doing is illegal. If they were to do the same thing, it would not be. I
might have to work that into my legal.html page somewhere.

I haven't had to much feedback from people, however I will not let that
dissuade me, I still plan to burn 300 of these and send them to MPs next
week.

There is one other angle I thought about including here which I'd like
some feed back on. Lucy Maud Montgomery's works hit the public domain
back in '93 I think. That did not stop her heirs and PEI from trying to
extend their hold on the cash cow called "Anne of Green Gables". There
now exists something called "The Anne of Green Gables Licencing
Authority" http://www.gov.pe.ca/anne/index.php3 which has a government
'official mark' on everything to do with the story. This official mark
is better than trademark as they do not actually have to produce
anything to require others to buy a licence from them. There is some
case law to support it as well

(go to the section titled CHARACTERS)

To my mind this is a blatant pillaging of the public domain and an
attempt to circumvent the limitations of copyright through the use of
trademark law.

An I right?
