  This is why some of us have been fighting software patents entirely.  
Unlike legitimate inventions there is no way to do adequate
useful,novelty,unobvious searches for software and thus software patents
become a simple case of legal landmines.  The required economic studies to
justify software patents were never done, and this new type of patent was
created by special interest patent offices listening to their "clients"  
who are the patent lawyers of patent filers.
