Email address is Letters@GlobeAndMail.ca.
Don't forget to include your name, address and a daytime phone
number.
Here's my letter :

Yes, unfortunately the new blood in the Heritage Committee doesn't
seem to want to stand up to the bought-and-paid-for old guard.

I believe that historians are going to look back at this particular
report and use it as an example of everything that is wrong with
our government today.

The report reads like it was written by the music industry and
Access Copyright, not an impartial and objective parliamentary
committee. It doesn't even mention the opposing viewpoints, no
doubt because the committee itself decided not to hear from
anyone except the special interests that helped finance their
campaigns in the last election. It even ignores reports from the
department of Industry, for example, that "notice and notice" is
a better system than "notice and takedown" (nicknamed "claim
and censor").

If it wasn't such a serious issue, it would be funny that a committee
with the name "Heritage" would recommend that the law protect
the locking away of our culture so that future generations will be
unable to get at it.

If the new committee is indeed going to follow the path of the old,
let's at least rename it. I suggest "The standing committee on
Maximising Royalties".
