If you send letters to DFAIT, I believe they should also be copied to the people involved in the copyright reform process so that they can potentially better recognize the can-of-worms they would be starting if they actually adopted similar policies in Canada. I just became a member of the EFF today. I know about the EFC <http://www.efc.ca/> but they don't seem to be involved in the core issues that need to be dealt with. I do hope that in the future we'll be able to get an EFF-Canada and a FSF-Canada set up with charity status so that fundraising on these issues will be easier! P.S. I agree with Alan's notes : while I don't believe Dmitry should have been charged with anti-circumvention as that is against basic free speach, I'm not a fan of the company he works for which seems to also produce SPAM software which is a totally different moral issue. --- Russell McOrmond, Internet Consultant: <http://www.flora.ca/> Free Sklyarov http://www.dibona.com/dmca/ http://www.freesklyarov.org/ http://www.flora.org/dmca/ Oppose DMCA in Canada! [snip] Activists Around the World If you are not a US resident, the US Department of Justice is unlikely to care about your opinion. It will be more effective for you to write to your country's equivalent of our Department of State (i.e., the branch that covers international diplomacy) and urge them to express their concerns to the US Dept. of State, and the US President (who ultimately controls the Justice Department). Ask your government to let our government know that prosecution of innocent foreign nationals under injust and questionably-valid laws is not going to go unnoticed anywhere, and can only harm trade and other relations.
