  It is my understanding that Heritage "gets this".  They may not speak in
terms of protecting the commons as most government has been re-engineered
to react primarily to business language, but I don't believe there is a
problem there.

  In the case of Industry it is a matter of convincing them that
public-domain and otherwise shared (Open Source where Moral Rights are
retained, but economic monopoly privileges are released) information is
that basic infrastructure that will mean as much to the next economy as
transportation infrastructure meant to the old economy.

  The duel/dual nature of Copyright between Heritage and Industry will 
probably require different approaches to each.





By the way:

  I would like to thank everyone who is participating in these
discussions. Bouncing off ideas between each other has allowed us to come
up with some pretty good stuff that I don't think anyone could have
thought of alone.  If I compare my thoughts on copyright last August when
this forum was started and now it is quite different.  It has been a huge
learning experience.

  I do hope we'll grow from here possibly to create our own association so 
that we can further share resources when discussing Open Source/etc with 
government.
