Dear Sirs/Mesdames,

I understand Norway has indicted Jon Johansen for programming his Linux
computer to read DVDs when he was 15 years old. I think this is wrong. He,
and others, should be able to play his DVDs on whatever machine he can make
it work on. The DVD region system does not deserve criminal sanctions to
enforce a marketing ploy that restricts access to any kind of intellectual
material.

DVDs are not soap or wheat or iron. They are crystallised ideas.

They should not be censored.

Sincerely,
Tom Trottier
