A Republican senator who moonlights as a composer of hymns and soft rock ballads has called for the development of new technology to remotely destroy computers belonging to illegal music downloaders."

Nicely illustrating that regime's contempt for rule of law -
i.e. "it's ok for us to do it but not for them" -
when enforcing their friends' special interests.

This could affect Canada if it goes into practise:
will the RCMP go after US agencies that engage in such acts of vandalism
on computers in Canada (accidental or deliberate)?
