CORRECTION: RE: [Cdn-DMCA] Compulsory retransmission license going away?

In a previous message I incorrectly attributed a message as:

"On Tue, 30 Oct 2001, Jeff Leiper forwarded to us proposed legislation
from Canadian Heritage minister Sheila Copps"

Jeff just gave me a quick call to let me know that these proposals did
NOT come from the Heritage minister, or at all from the government.

From the originally quoted article:
There are no details available at this time on how the proposed
legislation will be drafted, but it will likely resemble amendments
advocated by the broadcasters and content producers last November under
the Media Content Coalition umbrella (CNM, Nov. 1/00)

Note: CNM can be found at http://www.decima.ca/publishing/members/

A related press release on this issue can be read at:

(No comment on CMPDA and others calling themselves "Canada's Creative
Community" ;-)
