Competition & Copyright - and DVD's..

  Forwarded is a few entries from Strategis.



  Section 45 of the Competition Act is not the section I was relying on
for the DVD issue (which is section 77 under "exclusive dealing" and "tied
selling"), but section 45 does relate to cartels/etc.

  I have purchased a DVD-ROM player, "The Mummy Returns" (Listed CSS-free)
and "AntiTrust" (CSS encoded).

  I haven't yet gotten the player software working (Can't get the video
going - if anyone has, please send me some email), although both the
client at http://www.videolan.org/ and http://www.linuxvideo.org/oms/ seem
to do CSS decoding so I haven't yet verified the CSS status of the videos.

  I can get audio tracks off of both CD's ....  The anti-Trust CD seems to
have some interesting stuff on it if I can manage to get at it - the irony
is huge given some of the additional content I can hear..
